Ela adai/kolukatai | step by step pictures and video



Ela adai/kolukatai - This recipe is very much familiar in kerala cuisine.Speciality of this recipe is which fully made with the help of freshbanana leaf.It is very healthy snack for kids and adults because its completely done with steaming process so no oil healthy snack recipe.All we need is rice flour,jaggery and coconut with these simple ingredients u can make it in just 30 mins.Some people used to add sugar instead of jaggery if u want to taste the traditional ela adai/kolukatai then try with jaggery that taste really good if u like cardamon then add a pinch to it.I skipped cardamon because my hubby doesnt like the flavour.i will share detailed pics and video right below check out.Try this yummy healthy snack recipe at your kitchen and let me know how it turned out for you.
      According to my measurement u can make 5 to 6 large size ela adai/kolutai.Already i have posted some healthy snacks recipe i will share my link right here

SWEET PANNIYARAM

Ingredients:

Rice flour - 1 cup
Sherdded coconut - 1/2 cup
Jaggery - 1/2 cup
Water - 1/8 cup
Salt as required
Banana leaf - 5 to 6

Instructions:

1. Take a bowl add rice flour,salt mix it well. Add little by little water to make it as soft dough


2. Cover it with wet cloth,let it rest it for 10 mins
3. Take a pan,add jaggery and enough water.Stir continuously until it completely melts


4. Filter the jaggery syrup inorder to remove the impurities


5. Pour the filtered syrup to the same pan,add shredded coconut mix them well until it gets dry


6. Let it allow to cool down for 5 mins


7. Take a banana leaf just pat it slightly in a flame so that it can easily fold


8. Take a small portion of rice flour,flatten gently using fingers
9. Place a two tbsp of coconut mixture to the centre 


10. Gently press it to the other side,do the same process for the remaining dough


11. Once all done,steam it for 10 to 15 mins in a idly steamer


12. Ela adai/kolukati is ready to serve
